Every month at Park brings “not to be missed” special events including some favorites below. Watch the newsletter and print outs from your teachers for additional happenings.

Fall Events

• New Parent Orientation – This meeting is a great way to learn about your new school.
• First Day Coffee and PTA Sign-Up – Sign up for activities for the school year and have a cup of coffee with friends.
• Back to School Night – Learn what your child will be studying this year (parents only).
• Movie Night – A fun evening under the stars for the entire family.
• Park School Potluck – Spend a Sunday afternoon playing games on the black-top and enjoying a potluck dinner.
• Halloween Harvest Festival – Spend the last hour of school on Halloween watching a parade of all the children in their costumes and listening to a musical performance from each class.
• Parent/Teacher Conferences – There will be two weeks of early dismissal (1:45p.m.) while teachers meet with the parents. You can sign up for childcare. Look for the “Enrichment” sign-ups sent home by the teachers.

Winter Events

• Book Fair – It is a great time of year to buy your children books they will treasure. This event is held in the school auditorium in early December.
• Variety Show – Children can volunteer to participate in this special display of talent. It involves several rehearsals and one Saturday night show.
• Science Night – If your child has a love of science, this event gives him or her an opportunity to demonstrate his or her interest by creating an exhibit.

Spring

• Oceans Week(s) – Each grade studies a different part of the ocean during this Oceans Week. And the studies incorporate art, music and of course, science units. Outside teaching (funded by the PTA) from the Lawrence Hall of Science and other organizations is brought to Park School to enrich these efforts. Oceans Week culminates in an assembly celebration of all they have learned.
• Earth Day – The children prepare for Earth Day by studying ways to protect our Earth at home and school.
• Art Show – The year-end Art Show displays two art pieces from each child attending Park School. It is a beautiful display of the children’s talent and the depth of learning that is offered at Park School, thanks to Kiddo!

Other Special Events Offered Throughout the Year

• Assemblies – Different assemblies are offered each year. Recent favorites have included spectacular lion dancing for Chinese New Year, an inspirational speaker for Martin Luther King Day and a troupe of Maasai singers and dancers from Kenya.
• Music and Dance Class Demonstrations – Each year the Kiddo! music and dance teachers invite parents to attend one of their classes. It is a joyful and fun experience.
• Authors Series – Park School brings children’s book authors to the school.
