It Takes A Village

It Takes a Village is Mill Valley’s first Special Education PTA. It was formed in 2005 to support students with learning differences and their parents. We provide information and resources to understand, identify and teach students who learn differently. We work closely with school administrators and teachers in order to create positive and productive relationships with parents. We sponsor monthly speaker events at the Mill Valley School District office. We also have informal coffees at parents’ homes and have children’s playgroups at local playgrounds.

Please take a moment to review the information on our website, itavmv.org, to see what It Takes a Village can do for you and your child. Our monthly meeting, parent coffee, and playgroup schedule is included, as well as flyers for our speaker events. We hope that you will join us. The meetings are a great way to learn how to help your child maximize his or her learning potential, meet other parents, and get to know your child’s teachers and the District’s administrators. We have representatives at each of the six school sites who act as liaisons with the District.

Your Park representative this year is Gillian Reilly (gillianreilly@mac.com, 381-2725). You can also contact Marianne Shine with questions (marianne@bssp.com, 389-0168).

Please consider joining It Takes a Village, regardless of whether your child learns differently or more typically. Our educational forums offer something for everyone! A membership form, which you can turn in to Park’s school office, is on our website.

We look forward to meeting you! Again, our website address is itavmv.org.
