After School

Parents who wish to extend their child’s day at school have three enriching and truly fun options.

EDS
EDS stands for Extended Day Services. This program is run by Marin Day Schools. They offer before and after school care for kindergarten through fifth-grades at Park School from 7:30-8:30 am and 1:30-6:30 pm. EDS is also open on school closure days and winter and spring breaks from 7:30 am-6:30 pm.

Supervised Play
Supervised Play is for first- through fifth-graders who would like to stay and play on the Park School playground after school. The Supervised Play Program will be in a designated PLAY ZONE for participating students only. Mill Valley Parks and Recreation Staff will only supervise children who are registered in the Supervised Play Program.

There is one registration fee for the M, T, Th, F session and a separate registration fee for Wed. early dismissal days.

Enrichment Classes
Mill Valley Parks and Recreation organizes a host of interesting, educational and fun after school classes. Options range from art and drama to sports and foreign languages. Classes change seasonally and it is likely you will find something on the schedule that interests your child.

Communication with Main Office
Please make sure that at the beginning of each day your child knows what his/her arrangements are for after school. Except in the case of an emergency, please do not call the office and ask the secretary to deliver messages to your child during the school day. We would like to avoid as many interruptions to classroom learning as possible.

We understand that plans may change after your child is sent to school. Here are two ideas parents have shared that will help to get the information to your child.

  • If a different parent will be picking up your child than planned, ask that parent to call you as soon as he or she meets your child at school. Your child can then speak to you directly to confirm the new arrangement.
  • If your child doesn’t know where to go after school, please tell him or her to always go directly to the office. The secretary will be there to help figure out where he or she is supposed to be.

Thank you for your cooperation.
